Headache Chiropractor North Canberra
Thorough assessment and personalised care at our Macquarie clinic
Recurring headaches have a significant impact on daily life, yet many people simply manage them with pain relief rather than looking for the underlying cause. At Synergy Chiropractic Centre in Macquarie, we take a thorough approach to assessing headaches, particularly those with a cervical or musculoskeletal component.
Are you experiencing any of the following?
Headaches that occur frequently or have become more regular over time
Pain that begins at the base of the skull and spreads forward
Headaches that worsen with certain postures or movements
Tension across the upper neck and shoulders accompanying head pain
Sensitivity to light or sound during headache episodes
Headaches that are relieved temporarily by pressing or rubbing the neck or base of the skull
Morning headaches or those that develop during sustained desk or screen work
Not all headaches are the same, and the approach to care depends on the type and pattern of headache you are experiencing. Cervicogenic headaches, which originate from structures in the cervical spine, and tension-type headaches with a significant muscular component are areas where chiropractic assessment and care may be relevant. We will take a thorough history to understand your specific pattern before drawing any conclusions.
Common contributors to headaches with a cervical component
Sustained or poor postures during work, study, or screen use
Restricted movement or joint dysfunction in the upper cervical spine
Muscle tension in the neck, jaw, or upper back
Stress and its physical manifestation through the musculoskeletal system
Sleep disruption or poor sleeping position
Previous neck trauma or whiplash
Our approach at Synergy Chiropractic Centre
Assessment at your first appointment will include a detailed headache history covering frequency, duration, location, triggers, and associated symptoms. A physical examination of the cervical spine, shoulders, and upper back will follow, along with neurological screening where indicated. If there are features of your headaches that warrant further investigation or referral, we will discuss this openly.
Care is individualised and may include manual therapy, low-force techniques, soft tissue work, and guidance on postural and lifestyle factors relevant to your pattern.
If headaches are affecting your quality of life and you are not sure where to turn, we would be glad to assess what is going on. Your first appointment at our Macquarie clinic is a full hour.
